Accessible controls and fantastic music in SSX on Tour
SSX on Tour was the first game I played on the GameCube. I immediately realized that the GameCube is not inferior to the PS2. Graphically, the game is very polished, but in terms of controls, it is definitely a winner. It's amazing how snowboarding could be so accessible for someone who dislikes snow like me. Without ever setting foot in a winter sports park, SSX on Tour made me crave bratwurst right away.
Now that I've praised the game graphically and in terms of gameplay, let's move on to the sound. The music selection is simply fantastic. Your mom might not appreciate the guitar solos. But you will. Additionally, a nice touch has been added. The higher you jump in the air, the more muffled and softer the music becomes. And after you stomp the snow with your board or skis, the music blasts through the speakers again. A very good addition that only enhances the snowboarding (or skiing) experience.
Prefer racing quickly over all those weird tricks in the air? The game offers plenty of challenges to race against other speed demons. Or challenge your sister! Because the multiplayer mode is also impressive. Although the split-screen means you see very little of the track, it's all the more fun to show that you're the 'king of the hill'.
