Who is J-Lee Vincent and what does he do?
I am J-Lee Vincent, the owner of J-Lee’s Customs in Almere. We are a company that deals with controllers that are brought in for repair, as well as customizing products that could use a personal touch.
Why did J-Lee Vincent start J-Lee’s Customs?
I started J-Lee’s Customs because I have a passion for working with my hands, and at the same time, I love gaming (especially Nintendo). I also greatly appreciate repairing or refurbishing products rather than throwing them away.
How did J-Lee Vincent create the best Super Smash Bros. Controller?
The fully modified GCCs I provide come with the following modifications:
- New Potentiometers
Potentiometers are small black components inside the controller that register stick movements. When they wear out due to age or abuse, movements are less accurately detected. That's why modified GCCs always come with new potentiometers.
- No-reset Snapback Chip
Installing a No-Reset Snapback Chip eliminates the "Snapback" issue commonly found in new controllers (with new potentiometers). Snapback is when the stick snaps back too hard when pushed in a direction and released, often resulting in registering movement in the opposite direction. This can be frustrating for games that require precision.
- Digital Triggers
Digital Triggers are a variation of the standard L & R shoulder buttons provided by Nintendo on the GCC. The original shoulder buttons require a certain distance before input is registered. Digital Triggers minimize this distance, registering input immediately upon button press.
- Tactile-Z Button
The Tactile-Z Button is a variation of the standard Z button provided by Nintendo, located above the R shoulder button. This variation enhances the tactile feedback when pressing the button.
- Paracord
Paracord is a versatile cord used for various purposes. In the case of controllers, I use Paracord to give a fresh new look to the GCC's connection cable. Not only is it stylish, but also longer. Paracord is more flexible than the standard cable insulation on the GCC and provides equally good protection.
Can customers buy custom GCCs directly from J-Lee Vincent?
Absolutely! Customers can also reach out to me personally for a customized GCC. There are no limits to creativity; we can always discuss a custom GCC design. Who knows, we might come up with the coolest controller ever! I do aim to work in batches to utilize materials for multiple controllers simultaneously. This approach is both sustainable and efficient. Of course, I keep customers informed throughout the process.
Where can gamers admire J-Lee Vincent's work?
I hope to soon be featured in Madame Tussauds holding a beautiful controller. In the meantime, you can find me and my creations on:
